1. To provide photographic training in Ethiopia.
2. To provide the needed photographic materials and supplies for Ethiopian photographers.
3. To exhibit and market the final works of DESTA Photography Workshop students in Africa and aboard.
4. To create a network between photographers in Ethiopia and other photographers abroad through seminars, exchange programs and publications.
5. To create sustainable opportunities for Ethiopian photographers
6. To establish a Photography Department in Addis Ababa University School of Fine Art and Design.
7. To expand DESTA Photography Workshop to other parts of Africa.

It is often common that most of the images created about Africa is usually through the lens of a foreigner.  If Africans were given the opportunity to capture their own realities, then it would offer the world a deeper understanding of the continent. The new generations of African artists are seeking these opportunities and they want to present to the world a balanced perspective. Our D.E.S.T.A Photography Workshop is one component that offers photographic training to young artists.  A one-year program that entails the creative and business components, we are aiming to broaden the image of Africa by creating a link that would bring together a diverse group of individuals who are committed to the development and promotion of African photographers.
